The Difference Between Self Employment vs. Entrepreneurship

A lot of people may not be quite clear about the difference between self employment and entrepreneurship or if there is any difference at all.

This blog post will provide an overview of the 2 as well as details etc.

When it comes to entrepreneurship, it is defined as someone who organizes and run their own business or businesses that take on financial risks etc.

Self-employment however is defined as  the state of working for oneself and receiving income from self employment as a freelancer or the owner of a business rather than for an employer.

As a entrepreneur, you are considered to be both self employed (freelancer or contractor) and an entrepreneur depending on the level of an entrepreneur you may be.

In this blog post, we will be referencing the entrepreneur with the focus of solely being an online business owner and self employment as a contractor or freelancer.

Outside of our contractor positions available, we also help entrepreneurs  start their own online business, such as an online store, a service based business, or a home staging business for example.

The ultimate idea however for an entrepreneur as  online business owner, is to create a business system where you can run your business without your presence needed due to hiring others to help run your business and creating effective business systems.

Here are some of the benefits of entrepreneurship:

No cap on your potential income

Flexibility

Create your own schedule

No Boss

Can create your own position on your own terms

Can work for yourself or hire others

Can choose your location or work from home

Work Life Balance

Freedom and Independence

Below are some self employment categories:

Customer Support/Agent

Healthcare Boss

Door Dash

Air BNB

Instacart

Insurance Agent

Real Estate Agent

Doctor

Home Stager

Within these positions you can also become an entrepreneur where you can create a business system and hire other people in these roles as well where you can position yourself to no longer have to work for money but to have money working for you ultimately.

If you are an entrepreneur that started their business based off of their passion, the great thing is that you can still enjoy doing what you love to do as a choice and not be financially impacted if you take a break or decide to retire because of the business system that you have created.

The ultimate difference with these self employment roles is that the person in the profession has to be presently working in order to be self employed. If that person stops working, they are no longer employed.

In contrast, as an entrepreneur who has established a business system, that person can choose to work or not due to having others running the business for them which is what most entrepreneurs goals are in order to have the time, freedom, and flexibility in one’s life.
